Ways and Means Committee:    YOUR  NAME  HERE

 Financial Sponsors: We need a committee to contact sponsors for the show.  This would entail contacting companies  for a financial contribution and/or contributions of items to put in our freebie bag.

 Raffle Table: We need someone to head up the extremely important task of procuring items for the raffle table, and folks willing to help out in this endeavor. In case you aren’t aware of it, the raffle table is the biggest source of income for a show. The amount &quality of the merchandise on the raffle table will help determine if this show is financial successful or not.

 Competition Committee:   Pat Hay boll99@yahoo.com
            Judges:    YOUR NAME’S  HERE

If you are planning on attending the show, we would like to have your name to add to the list of those who are willing to either assist with the judging, as a member of one of the three member judging teams, or as a scribe to one of the judging teams.

            Check In Entries:

Another important job that we will need volunteers for is the checking in of the entries, on Friday of the Show. YOUR NAME HERE    We need a volunteer for the chair of this important, on site, committee. It is very important that we have, in that position, someone who will make certain that the entries are entered in the correct division, i.e., Open, Advanced or Masters, and that the entries are then in correct class for that division.

We also need volunteers who will be helping to tag and to place the items on the display tables. YOUR  NAME’S   HERE  These volunteers should also be able to recognize if an item looks as if it has been entered incorrectly, and to take it immediately to the Chair for verification. We want to insure that no entry winds up in the wrong class, which would then result in that entry being disqualified. We want everyone who enters to be given an equal opportunity to be judged and to vie for the awards.

 Don’t Forget: We will be selling tickets

 for the Tool Raffle starting March 1. The tickets are $10 each. You will have the chance to win $1000, $750 or $500 to buy from the tool vendor of your choice.

 The signed Al Stohlman Deluxe Limited Addition   “Pictorial Carving Finesse”

     tickets are $1 each. These will be on sale starting March 1.    Please send ticket orders to;

                        Pat Hay, P.O. Box 98, Cary, Ms. 39054   or by   paypal   missboll@gmail.com

 You will receive a confirmation email with your ticket numbers.  If you would like your ticket stubs, they will be sent to you.  We will need your name, address, email  and phone number for each ticket purchased.   You do not have to be present to win.  You are free to print out these flyers and give to your friends, put up in stores etc.    Get the word out !

Thanks  folks !  Together we can make this a show, a show to remember !

GUILD  NEWS;

On February 19, 2006 we held our monthly Leather Guild meeting.  We had an interesting meeting discussing various issues.

One of the  topics  of discussion at the meeting was as follows:

We have been asked to the Three Rivers Art Festival in downtown Pittsburgh on

June 9, 10 and 11th  from noon until 9:00 PM, to display our leather crafts.  Parking each day will be around $10 to $12 dollars so think about car pooling to share the parking cost.

We need a count of how many are interested in coming by this March meeting.  I want to encourage all of you to participate, for this will give us an opportunity to show our  leather craft sills and hopefully bring new crafters into the guild.

Dave Melrose, the owner of “Dave’s Leather Shop” in Belle Vernon will be attending our March meeting on the 19th.  He will bring a “truckload” of leather and some remnants with him and a sewing horse.  He will also share his knowledge and business experience.

I hope to see everyone at this meeting and bring a friend.  Remember you will have an opportunity to purchase some tools and supplies from Dave at great prices.

I also want to thank the talented Terry Moore for demonstrating “how to trace and cut” leather purses.  He lead the group for the February meeting and as usual gave a great presentation.

At last, let’s send our prayers and well wishes out to Dave Briggs, Lois Silvis and Peggy Gabauer.

KEVIN  COHEN,

VICE PRESIDENT,

PITTPOUNDERS  LEATHER GUILD

            Leather Classes & Projects

The March meeting will cover decorating, dying, and finishing the purse.  We will be concentrating on some of the patterns popular in the 60’s as demonstrated in the Tandy book, Creating Nature Tand Designs #46100-00.  The dye will be applied using the block dying technique.

The April meeting will be the final assembly of the purse.

  After this project is completed, we will have to decide if we want to learn a new technique to decorate the leather and/or start a new project.  A couple options for projects are a leather covered pillow or a “Hunting Bag” that is popular as a purse.  Think about what you would like to do.     See you  there,

                        TERRY  MOORE

WELCOME    DEBRA;

DEBRA COLLINS IS THE NEW STORE MANAGER AT  THE   TANDY  STORE IN DELMONT.   JIM  WALDREP IS STEPPING  DOWN AS MANAGER, BUT HE WILL STILL BE SPENDING TIME AT THE STORE.

JIM SAID THE REASON FOR THIS CHANGE, “I WANT  TO SPEND MORE  TIME WITH MY  FAMILY.

                        DEBBIE,

                        THE GUILD    WELCOMES YOU.
