HELLO  GUILD  MEMBERS,


AS YOU ALL KNOW, OUR GUILD WAS  INVITED TO TEACH A GROUP OF ABOUT FIFTEEN PEOPLE AT OLD ECONOMY VILLAGE, IN AMBRIDGE. WE WERE TO MAKE  COASTERS AND A COIN PURSE. IT WAS AN ALL ADULT ONLY CLASS, AND THEY REALLY WERE SERIOUS ABOUT BEING THERE. THEY FINISHED THESE PROJECTS BY THE END OF THE DAY. IT WAS AN ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCE FOR ALL AND WE ARE HOPING SOME OF THE PEOPLE WILL COME TO THE GUILD.

 I WANT TO TAKE THE OPPORTUNITY  TO THANK SARAH, ROBERTA, AND RITA FOR INVITING US TO THE  VILLAGE FOR THE DAY. THEY WERE EXTREMELY ACCOMMODATING, AND MADE US FEEL VERY WELCOME.

ADDITIONALLY I WOULD LIKE TO THANK CHRIS KEARNS  AND DRAPER, FOR THEIR HELP AND HARD WORK. THEY WERE A TREMENDOUS ASSET TO ME, AS I WAS PREOCCUPIED WITH MOVING INTO MY NEW HOME. THANK YOU TO ALL MY FRIENDS FOR THEIR GENEROUS CONTRIBUTIONS AND FOR GIVING UP  THEIR SATURDAY.

            BRING LACING NEEDLES, LACING WILL BE PROVIDED

 

CHRIS WILL TALK ABOUT SWIVEL KNIVES, SELECTION  AND  USE,

                                    AND IF THERE IS TIME, WE WILL BEGIN TOOLING A DESIGN

BRING YOUR            SWIVEL KNIFE AND  STROP,

A SCRAP OF LEATHER, MARBLE, MALLET, AND  BEVELERS

TRACING PAPER OR VELLUM, AND A SCRIBE.

 

AT THE MAY METING,  THE GUILD WILL DECIDE IF WE ARE GOING TO HAVE REGULAR SUNDAY MEETINGS DURING THE SUMMER, JUNE, JULY, AND AUGUST.  THE DECISION WILL BE PUBLISHED IN NEXT MONTHS NEWS LETTER.

 

 

THERE IS A NEWLY FORMED LEATHER GROUP IN NORTH EASTERN OHIO, NEAR SHARON.  THEY ALREADY HAVE 12 MEMBERS. THEIR MOTIVATOR’S ARE CHUCK LIIFF AND HIS WIFE. CALL KEVIN FOR MORE INFORMATION.

 

THE PORTAGE COUNTY FAIR

 


DAVE BRIGGS IS LOOKING FOR ENTRIES FOR THE  AUGUST 2008  “PORTAGE COUNTY FAIR”  IN OHIO.  THERE WILL BE  250,000  PEOPLE AT THE FAIR.  THERE IS NO ENTRY FEE, AND  DAVE WILL HANDLE ALL THE ENTRIES.  ANY RIBBONS AND PRIZE MONEY  IS YOURS TO KEEP. DAVE SAID

HE  PRIMARILY  WANTS TO SHOW THE COUNTY WHAT EXPERIENCED LEATHER WORKERS CAN DO.

THE ENTRIES MAY BE SEVERAL  YEARS OLD,  BUT THEY SHOULD  NOT SHOW ANY SIGNS OF WEAR.
